Head Cook

    Location: Romsey, Bendigo, Goldfields & Macedon Ranges VIC

    Job Type: Full time

    Salary: $76,515 per year

    An excellent candidate can follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. You must be precise in moving around the kitchen. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

    Responsibilities:

    • Follow food safety requirements
    • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment to maximize efficiency
    • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
    • Food preparation and cooking, also ensuring good presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
    • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
    • Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly 
    • Monitor stock and place orders as required. 

    Requirements:

    • Trade qualification in cookery and at least 3 years plus experience as a cook in a busy kitchen cooking Australian cuisine
    • Regional cuisines with fresh produce is an advantage
    • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bake ware
    • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
    • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
    • Ability to work in a team and a good team player
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Energetic ‘can do’ attitude supported by strong interpersonal skills
