We’re on the lookout for a diligent Payroll Compliance Officer, who will play a key role in promoting a culture of compliance and continuous improvement within UnitingCare Queensland’s payroll function. Reporting into the Payroll Compliance Lead and working within Chris21 and Aurion systems, this role is responsible for conducting routine compliance checks, maintaining documentation, assisting with audits, and supporting data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular checks to ensure payroll transactions comply with relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Maintain up-to-date records of compliance activities, including audit trails and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with payroll teams to reduce manual interventions, enhance data accuracy, and improve service delivery.

- Assist in drafting communications and training materials related to compliance updates.
- Assist in preparing compliance reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Identify data anomalies and escalate issues to the Payroll Compliance Lead.
- Provide frontline support for compliance-related queries and issues.
- Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing payroll system functionality and reporting capabilities.
- Support the development and maintenance of payroll compliance documentation, including SOPs, policies, and control frameworks.
What you will bring:
- Experience in payroll operations or compliance support roles.
- Understanding of Australian payroll legislation, including superannuation, taxation, and employment standards.
- Familiarity with Aurion and/or Chris21 systems.
- Formal qualifications in Payroll, HR, Finance, Business, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- A can-do attitude, coupled with the willingness to go the extra mile.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to pivot priorities depending on the needs of the organisation.
- High attention to detail and accuracy; pro-active approach to tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
