Salary: $76,515 per year
An excellent candidate can follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. You must be precise in moving around the kitchen. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.
Responsibilities:
- Follow food safety requirements
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment to maximize efficiency
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
- Food preparation and cooking, also ensuring good presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure all food and other items are stored correctly
- Monitor stock and place orders as required.
Requirements:
- Trade qualification in cookery and at least 3 years plus experience as a cook in a busy kitchen cooking Australian cuisine
- Regional cuisines with fresh produce is an advantage
- Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bake ware
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work in a team and a good team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Energetic ‘can do’ attitude supported by strong interpersonal skills
